IT'S GOOD TO TALK

Some of our esteemed Naija bloggers are featured in an article on the BBC website. We don't all agree, but it's good to see some intelligent dicussion being thrown around about issues that affect us all. Maybe our voices will be a catalyst for action sooner than later. Let's keep talking.

THE NIGERIAN PROCLAMATION

IN RECENT HISTORY, NIGERIANS HAVE BEEN OVERWHELMINGLY BETRAYED BY THOSE CHARGED WITH ADDRESSING THEIR NEEDS. INSTEAD OF SERVING THE PEOPLE, PUBLIC SERVANTS HAVE SERVED THEMSELVES TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE MASSES. THE RESULT IS A NATION LACKING ADEQUATE INFRASTRUCTURE, ORGANIZATION AND SECURITY.

THE INEFFECTIVENESS OF NIGERIAN LEADERS INDICATES A LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY TO THE CONSTITUENTS. NIGERIANS ARE NO LONGER RELEVANT TO THE LEADERS, THUS, LEADERS DO NOT FEEL RESPONSIBLE TO THEM.

THE RECENT FAILURE TO CONDUCT A FREE AND FAIR ELECTORAL PROCESS WAS YET ANOTHER ILLUSTRATION THAT THE NEEDS OF THE MANY ARE SECONDARY TO THE WANTS OF THE IMPORTANT FEW.

FROM THIS DAY, ALL NIGERIANS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FUTURE OF THIS GREAT & POWERFUL COUNTRY. CONSEQUENTLY, ALL NIGERIANS MUST COMMIT THEMSELVES TO THE FOLLOWING:

1. WE MUST DEMAND THAT ELECTED OFFICIALS BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR
ACTIONS AND IN-ACTIONS.
2. WE MUST EXPECT DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES TO BE HONORED, RESPECTED AND

MAINTAINED.
3. WE MUST BELIEVE THAT ALL NIGERIANS ARE EQUAL UNDER THE LAW AND

SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH.
4. WE MUST APPLY OURSELVES TO IMPROVING THE LOT OF EVERY INDIVIDUAL

NIGERIAN REGARDLESS OF GENDER, RELIGION, TRIBE OR SOCIAL STATUS.
5. WE MUST STRIVE TO MAINTAIN A UNITED REPUBLIC DESPITE OUR DIFFERENCES.

ONLY UPON ACHIEVING THESE PRINCIPLES CAN WE AS A PEOPLE FULLY LIVE UP TO OUR POTENTIAL AS A LAND OF GREATNESS. FOR OURS IS A COUNTRY RENOWNED FOR ITS ILLUSTRIOUS PEOPLE, AMPLE RESOURCES AND SHEER PHYSICAL BEAUTY.

Reunited and it felt so good y'all!

What's good people? Decided to take a few minutes to update y'all real quick after my London trip. It was fabulous, to say the least. The weather was beautiful, our abode was perfect, the people we met/saw/hung out with were great company and of course the purpose of the trip was the CAKE! You know.....that big, soft, fluffy, piece of white cake with cream cheese icing that just melts in your mouth. Yeah......just like that. LOL

I was the most spoiled woman in the world last week and I loved it. I got to shop big time which was fun. There were very many romantic moments which were even more fun. I won't bore you with the details though...LOL. I will say to my boo that it was fabulous to spend that time with you, especially since one of those days was your birthday. I am forever grateful that you were born. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY.

I ate like a pig. Fish and Chips...check! Chicken Katsu Curry at Wagamama....check! Goat Pepper Soup, Jollof Rice and Fried Fish...check! Chocolate....check! Fast food....check! But we did so much walking, I think everything balanced itself out...LOL. To anyone who has a trip coming up to London anytime soon, do yourself a big favor and stop off at the Ben and Jerry's stand near Bond Street Station. Have a waffle with icecream, or chocolate or just plain......then make sure you bring me back some as well. LOL. To die for!!!!!!

A huge thank you to our host. You were PERFECT! Thank you so much for your hospitality. It is much appreciated and I hope I can return the favor sometime. Keep my Uncle Ben's for me OK? LOL. To LondonBuki.....hopefully, I'll get to meet you next time. Enjoy your vacay on our side of the world. Low, it was good to see you honey, even though it was only for a minute.

Now I'm back in the real world and just getting over jetlag. Feeling like I need a vacation to recover from the vacation. Just got home from spending the night at a friend's where I met a bunch of new people and we stayed up all night and continued gisting this afternoon after we got up. I had mad fun girl, so thanks!

Y'all....I forgot to mention that I'm taking the GMAT again in about 3 weeks so I need your prayers o. I have been studying hard for a while now so I'm believing that I'll do much better this time and not have to take it again.

Hope you guys have a fab rest of the weekend and an even better and blessed week. Much love, as always! And to paraphrase Oprah's commencement speech at Howard today, I hope you're really working towards finding your life's calling if you haven't already. As you do, also take the time to help someone else along the way. A smile, a letter, a word of encouragement can make a difference. Peace!
