THE ANSWER......

So........no one got the answer to my fruit tag right. And no one else that I tagged has bothered to put one up...LOL. I guess it's not as fun as the other kinds of tags. Here's the answer to my elusive question............

I'M A KUMQUAT(also CUMQUAT)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell is a kumquat, I hear you ask. Well, see below. Better yet, go to your friendly neighborhood grocery store and buy one. Try it and let me know what you think. If you like it, then maybe I'll try it too......LOL.

Have a good week people!

Like this fruit, I have a sweet exterior and sometimes can have a tart interior (so you have to take a second bite) but it's mostly sweet as well. This fruit comes from Asia but is grown in warmer climates in the States so like me, it thrives in good hot weather. Like this fruit, which can be eaten but also used as a plant, I am very versatile and adaptable. Also, this fruit can be eaten whole, and used to make marmalades, jams, chutneys, in fruit salads, and they are available as candy. So like this fruit, I am very diverse and interested in many different things. Finally, this fruit has lots of nutritional value - it is cholesterol, sodium and fat free, contains vitamins A and C and fiber, and has traces of iron and calcium. In other words, very much like this fruit, I am oh so good for you...LOL. This fruit is attractive (as a plant) and delicious...just like me. WHAT FRUIT AM I?

Hint: I am not an orange!

I fruit tag
1. Miguel
2. Icy
3. Ms Minx
4. Diamond
5. Biodun

In honor of all my Muslim friends and family.....Happy Eid Al Fitr. Save some goat meat for me!!!!!

Math and Music Friday

Hey Y'all! How's it going? I am glad to say I've had a little down-time this week but it's about to get all hectic again. This post is just going to be really random so bear with me.

I'm preparing for the GMAT right now, and as a result I'm taking a prep course offered at work. I had to pay for it but it's not nearly as much as the Kaplan and Princeton Review, which I've come to find out are rip-offs! The guy that teaches my class (let's call him Dr. C) used to be a tutor for both programs (and he's a reader of the GMAT essay) and stopped teaching for them because he realized that they weren't doing it the right way. He now teaches ALL GMAT, GRE, and LSAT prep courses offered by universities in my city and has an amazing high score/pass rate....AS LONG AS YOU DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU!!!! See that's the catch....has Ms. May been doing what she's being told? Well, no not really. It's so hard to study 2-3 hours a night when you travel like I do and do all the other things I do. Ok, I know....enough with the excuses. If it's that important, I need to be disciplined and make the time. So, I've been doing better this week and have even gone ahead and registered for the test. NOVEMBER 25TH. Please pray for me! Dr. C says to take the test about 2-3 weeks after the class ends and my date of exam is about a month after...hey, what's one week? It was the only Saturday available! So again, please pray for me. The Verbal portion has never been a big issue, and I've always been good at math so it's just a matter of remebering concepts I haven't dealt with in a few years which I'm doing fairly well. What Dr. C teaches are tips and tricks to do well on the exam in the TIME allotted. If I had 10 hours to do the test I probably would do fantastically well but I don't...I just need to know how to answer the questions correctly AND quickly. Anyone who's taken the GMAT and has some advice.....give it, please.

So as I was practicing my math skills last night, this little poem came to me.....

THE MATH OF YOU AND ME

I am a fraction of you
You are a fraction of me
Together we form a whole

Sometimes you are the numerator
Other times you are the denominator
Either way, we form a whole

No matter how difficult
The problem may be
The quotient is always a whole

This is the math of you and me

Instead of doing math, THIS is what I was thinking about! God help me. LOL.

Below are some youtube videos of Jay and B in Nigeria. Not the best quality but hey.....what can you do.

Anyways, here are some new videos and a link to Ciara's new song which I just LOVE! Enjoy and have a good weekend folks.

Ciara - I Promise

NOTE: I had an appointment set up for 10.30 today. My appointment was a half hour late so I started working on this pos and had to stop when she arrived. The appointment just concluded after about an hour and a half and you guys.....I have never felt more blessed to be who I am and grateful to God for how He has made me and continues to make me. I cannot divulge anything about what just went down but all I can say is prejudice and discrimination are evil things. I have always made a conscious effort to be as open to different things and people as possible but today was truly a test of that for me - to have someone tell me something about themselves that they wouldn't ordinarily share with a stranger and to watch them wait with bated breath to see how I would react and treat them after I heard what they had to say. I think I did a good job and I promised them I would keep it confidential which is why I can't even divulge anything. Believe me, I want to but I can't. That's another test I'm giving myself - to see if I can truly keep my promise to that person. In honor of them, here is the quote of the day. The "he can't be any worse" part, I'm imagining Mark Twain said in a tongue in cheek way. The fact is we are ALL human beings and deserve to be treated fairly and without prejudice. Even though it is rarely ever that way, it is how it should be. God Bless.

“I have no race prejudice. I think I have no color prejudices or caste prejudices nor creed prejudices. Indeed, I know it. I can stand any society. All that I care to know is that a man is a human being -- that is enough for me; he can't be any worse.” - Mark Twain

PARTY UPDATES

Hey Y'all! It's been a minute. I travel a ton for work and I have so much other stuff going on that any free moment was used to sleep. Those of you who know me, know that I LURVE my sleep, especially when I'm not getting too much of it. I have been keeping up with as many blogs as I can though so I haven't been totally AWOL.

So I caught up on the This Day Concert gist on Bella's, my sis Ms Minx, and DonChiChi's blogs and needless to say I am sooooooo jealous I didn't get to go. I will say that the amount people paid for the regular and VIP tix was a complete rip-off. Would they dare charge $1,000 for a Jay-Z concert here?!!!!! Are they kidding? But I guess people didn't mind since it was packed. I will leave the discussion of the social and economical siginificance/implications of the cost of the concert tickets for another time. LOL. The gist I got from reading posts on the event is that all the foreign artists were impressed with the whole event, especially the fact that we knew the words to the songs and such. Y'all better recognize......we Naijas are ALWAYS in the know!!!!! We may be behind the times in many ways but in terms of fashion and entertainment, FUGGEDABOUTIT!

So I've been wanting to post about someone I know and love for a while but haven't gotten around to it. Now is the perfect time though since he just MC'd the This Day concert. Y'all....meet my friend Tony Okungbowa. According to DonChiChi's account, he did a good job (even though ChiChi yabbed him small). I just spoke to him on the phone a minute ago and apparently he wasn't supposed to MC the whole thing, he was just supposed to DJ, and was thrown the mic at the last minute so based on that, I think he did a fabulous job. Tony used to be the DJ on the Ellen Degeneres Show and just taped his last show in early summer. He's working on various projects including a movie that I guarantee will blow EVERYONE away. I will bring you more exclusive behind the scenes gist when I speak to my sister and when Tony returns. You all be on the lookout for one of our own doing BIG things - he is very talented, very cool, loves Nigeria and is one of the nicest and most genuine people you'll ever meet. I'll let you all know how I met him another time, but he is on the way to bigger and better things and is representing Naija in a great way.

As for the Independence day party gist - I worked the door of the event o! I didn't get to party with all the folks cos I ws collecting the money - in fact, that has become a new part-time job for me, una come see me see trouble. More on that later. As for the party, I must say that folks came out.....come see lines and people coming even at 3.30 when parry go end at 4. I was a little disappointed because the guys were looking better than the ladies fashion-wise. I expected the ladies to represent in a major way but they didn't. As for me, I rocked my freakum dress and some green accessories - you know how we do! I was being toasted like crazy that night. Come see Naija guys with lines, Yankee guys with lines...LOL. A "former" was in the building that night and let's just say it felt good to be in demand...LOL.

The performances by Keno, Naira and ElDee were fabulous. ElDee especially brought down the house. For pictures of the event, head over to Tiwaworks website to check them out. I was also glad to see folks copping the albums and supporting the artists. If y'all haven't got those albums yet, please do so.

Without fail, Nigerians have to have some drama, right? Everything was good ALL night, until the end when some guys got into a fight outside the venue. It was ridonculous! Yes...I said RIDONCULOUS! Those guys wouldn't let up. What was it about? Na woman O! What else? But the police and security were able to break it up eventually without too much hassle.

As far as the event itself, it was a very successful one. Props to Tiwaworks and his staff....myself included of course...LOL. Stay tuned for the next one.

So now to my new part-time job. Besides working the door (which means I collect the money) for a couple of Tiwaworks events, including the "PERFECT FRIDAYS" which takes place at House Nightclub every Friday night, I have also been privileged to work for my roommate's brother at a couple of his events at South Beach on Roswell Road in ATL. You guys.....your girl has been hobnobbing with STARS, and getting paid for it. The first one I worked was hosted by Kelis, Nas stopped through for a quick minute, Andre 3000 from Outkast was in the house, the Clipse, Tigger from 106 and Park, a couple of the guys from 112, Elise Neal(who was with Tigger...are they dating?), and can't remember who else. Andre 3000 was the coolest...gave a firm handshake, talked about Outkast doing some shows in Africa later this year....just a very respectful guy. Then Sunday night, I worked the VIP door again at South Beach. This party was hosted by Jazze Pha so Sho'nuff was in the house! See Jazze Pha rolling up in the Range, stepping out and having his security actually put on his bright green jacket for him....na wa! Lil Lloyd came through, Slim Thugga in his green pimped out Dodge, Carl Thomas (where the hell has he been?), T-Pain (doesn't look any better in person...LOL) with his bright orange Caddy, a new group called Nephu coming out soon, some ATL Falcons players one of who tipped me some change, and my favorite of the night......DAVID BANNER!!!!! He was so respectful, and nice. We talked...he's also planning on doing some shows in Africa with Akon soon so look out for that. He's actually very well spoken and mad cool in person. I always thought he would be, but he was even better than I expected. So na so e be o! It was work till the early hours but it was fun work.

I'll stop here but it feels good to actually post after a long time. I don't know when the next post will be because I head out to SC, FL, and TN in the next week but I'll try not to be away for too long this time. Till next time, be good folks and don't forget to have some fun along the way!

Two quotes for you today:

If a man insisted always on being serious, and never allowed himself a bit of fun and relaxation, he would go mad or become unstable without knowing it. ~ Herodotus

Fun is fundamental. There is no way around it. You absolutely must have fun. Without fun, there is no enthusiasm. Without enthusiasm, there is no energy. Without energy, there are only shades of gray. ~ Doug Hall

I'LL BE BACK

Y'all...please bear with me. In the space of 2 weeks, your girl has been in DC, Alabama, Dallas and I'm heading to Houston tomorrow as well. Na work o!

I did manage to have some fun last weekend at the Naija Party I posted about...I'm too tired to even link to it...LOL. I will be back to gist about it later. Needless to say, your girl represented.....I was looking DAMN GOOD! Lol.

I'll be back with more gist. And I know there's been a lot of negative news this past week, and lots of us are dealing with various things but let's keep our heads up and have faith that things will be well. In fact...it's already alright. Have a great week people.
